Oooooooohhhhh.... What is it with me and werewolves???? === Despite being blue all weekend, I nonetheless had some fun with the kids who participated in the Harry Potter UNO Challenge at our National Bookstore branch in Quezon Avenue. I'm sure compared to the other branches we probably had the lowest kid attendance, but the ones who attended were very enthusiastic, which was well and good. There was one little girl I couldn't forget. Her name was Chelsea, and she was there with her mom and sister. Aside from being cute as heck, there was one really memorable thing about this kid. Her favorite toy is a plastic shovel, and she brings it everywhere she goes. Yes, a plastic shovel. Don't ask. There were some very talented kids too. I mean, most of them can draw circles around me, and compared to their works, my "The Ugliest Gnome" (which is really saying something since the gnomes were already ugly in the first place, so you can just imagine how horrible my drawing was), would probably win last prize. There was one girl who drew "Puss in Boots". Who cares if it wasn't Harry Potter-related, the kid is a genius! Also, it was kinda weird, but The Sorting Hat seemed to be the recurring theme of the day. Hrmmm.... Oh, and them kiddies all positively crushed me when we were playing UNO. Heheheh. Of course, it was my pleasure letting them win. ;) Can't wait for next Saturday. :) Saturday, April 24, 2004 ------------------------------------------------ The One About The Box of Chocolates Last night, I finally opened this lovely box of chocolates that was given to me by someone who seems to be having fun hunting up chocolates for me. :D After having loads of fun with one called "peppermint creme", and something involving hazelnuts, my interest was piqued by something called "turkish delight". Sounds exotic? Yep. I took a bite... It felt like the first time I tasted Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Heheheh. "Turkish delight" tasted like... roses. My brother pointed out, after taking a bite too, that it was like chocolate with rose-scented shower gel. Haha! What to eat next..... Hrmmm.... === First star on the right, next to the moon. Haha! :) === Yeah, too much TV can be bad for you, but sometimes, I just love sitting in front of it and watching really good shows you can learn a lot from. Like the other night. there was a feature on Discovery about nature's wonders, and they discussed what made the Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis. *start nerd mode* According to the feature, the Sun is much like the Earth. It has weather too. And lots of times, sunstorms happen. During sunstorms, plasma escapes the surface of the sun and travels away from it. If the plasma reached us, it would be devastating. But the Earth has its own defense mechanism in the form of its magnetic field, which deflects the plasma safely away from the Earth's immediate atmosphere. But when it collides with certain gases, it burns a certain color, which Earthlings see as the Aurora. Cool. :) === Team Building for Muggle Work (a.k.a. The Empire) starts tomorrow at Tagaytay. Thursday, April 15, 2004 ------------------------------------------------ Fun Excerpts from the Never Ending Story As Professor Malfoy and the new Marauders ran to HMInez's office, they met a tall blond guy who seemed vaguely familiar. The Marauders stopped in their tracks. "I know you!" said Bill. "Orlando Bloom???" "That's me. Have you seen Professor Frances?" Professor Malfoy exchanged a look with Charlie. "Errrr.... yes. Come on, follow me." Charlie winked at Professor Malfoy and lead Orlando down the hall. Minutes later... "Alright. That's taken cared of," said Charlie with a satisfied grin. "What did you do?" asked Bill. "Well, I led him into one of the broom closets. But I think one of the brooms was a portkey. I don't know where he went." "Charlie, you're a genius. Let's go." === "I was saying you are an incompetent fool stuck in a backwater wizarding school." (smirk, smirk, sneer) "At least I have the position I want and I enjoy my job. Do you?" "Stop taking a stab at *my* position," Snape said, whipping out his wand. "Oh lookie here. Snape is affected. Oooh," Anakin taunted, also whipping out his wand. Without warning, Snape shouted "Expelliarmus!" and at the same time, Professor Malfoy shouted "Protego!". "Impressive...." said Snape, taking a firmer hold on his wand. "But of course. You can expect nothing else from me." === Orlando went out of the Room of Requirement, leaving everyone either drooling or still dancing, and walked the halls of Hogwarts Philippines. He unfortunately wandered near the Headmistresses' Office just then and what do you know.... "What are you doing here?" asked Charlie Weasley incredulously, knowing the actor should have been in Kenya. "I dunno. The last thing I remember was that I was in this weird place, then another guy appeared, cursing and cursing. He was weird. I swear, that guy should shampoo his hair. I mean, come on, look at *my* hair. I'm still the prettiest elf in all of...." "Kenya," Bill finished, casting another spell to send the actor back to Kenya. "Severus could use some company. And some hair tips." === All this time, Professor Skywalker was staring at Bill Weasley, starstruck. "Oi, di naman niya kamukha si Hayden ah, why are you staring at him?" Professor Skywalker continued to stare. "Prof. Sky!" Anakin shouted. "Oh! Sorry. You were saying?" she answered, quite dazed. "Duh. Let's just get going, okay? The portkey will get activated any minute," the Dark Arts professor said exasperatedly. "Hold on, guys," said Bill. "What is it now?" "I just have a good luck present for the good professor," he said, with a wink, and handed Professor Skywalker a single red tulip with a flourish. "Awwww... that's so sweet. Thanks," she said, blushing. === Out in one of the corridors of the castle, Orlando Bloom was still wandering the halls, when he suddenly met Dobby. "Ah! Another pointy-eared creature!" he cried happily, as he tried to engage the house elf in conversation. Dobby looked at the actor and decided he looked too much like his former master, Lucius Malfoy, and started to walk away. "Hey, wait!" said Orlando, walking after Dobby. "I just want to talk to you." === The guards fired at the two professors, laser fire ricocheting across the hangar from all directions. In the middle of this, Professor Skywalker was dodging their fire, and at every possible opportunity, using the Force to grab their blasters away from them; or in instances, cursing them with “EXPELLIARMUS!”. Slowly, she made her way towards a sleek, silver starship with Parvati Patil. Off to the other side of the hangar, Professor Malfoy was aggressively battling the other guards, using his two lightsabers to block enemy fire, all the while jumping over one side of the room to the other. However, a familiar, yet dreaded sound filled the room. “Droidekas!” mumbles Anakin, as he tried to fight his way towards the ship, barely escaping the rapid fire brought about by about a dozen Destroyer Droids. Unfortunately for him, the way was blocked by debris. Outnumbered and outmatched, the only thing he could do at the moment was block the laser fire with his sabers, to do anything else would be suicide. Just then, one by one, the droidekas exploded in a flash of light, as Professor Skywalker, blaster in hand, shot the droidekas at their weakest points, behind their back. “Hey,” shouted Prof. Skywalker. “If you wanna stay here and play hero, go ahead. But I plan to see the HeadBall dance.” === “Enemy fighters, at point three-three-oh-two...”, Prof. Skywalker announced. “I don’t think this bucket of bolts has any weapons. You girls better strap down; it’ll just be like Boonta Eve Classic back home...” All of a sudden, the starship lurched, as Anakin did some fancy maneuvers, looping around enemy starfighters, and dodging unfriendly fire. In a few moments, Professor Malfoy got their coordinates from the navicomputer, engaged the hyperdrive, and they we’re off back home. In the midst off all that, Professor Skywalker softly mumbled: “please don’t do that again...” === Bill Weasley was restless. After hearing of Anakin Malfoy's accident on Naboo and the fact that he still hadn't regained consciousness, he became very worried for his friend. And yet he started thinking of Prof. Skywalker. What happened on Naboo? She suddenly became very distant, not paying attention to him much, not even when he left more flowers in her office, with an invitation to meet him for dinner. She never showed up. He decided to walk to the hospital wing to check on Anakin. As he rounded one corner, he thought he saw a figure wearing a white helmet run down one of the moving stairs. But there was nothing there when he looked again. The figure seemed vaguely familiar. But he thought it just might be the effect of thinking about Prof. Skywalker too much, or too much of those chocolate eclairs during dinner. === The Wednesday, April 14, 2004 ------------------------------------------------ Which Dragon resides in your soul? ![]() You are a silver dragon. "Wendy, one girl is more use than twenty boys." Now Wendy was every inch a woman, though there were not very many inches, and she peeped out of the bedclothes. "Do you really think so, Peter?" "Yes, I do." "I think it's perfectly sweet of you," she declared, "and I'll get up again"; and she sat with him on the side of the bed. She also said she would give him a kiss if he liked, but Peter did not know what she meant, and he held out his hand expectantly. "Surely you know what a kiss is?" she asked, aghast. "I shall know when you give it to me," he replied stiffly; and not to hurt his feeling she gave him a thimble. "Now," said he, "shall I give you a kiss?" and she replied with a slight primness, "If you please." She made herself rather cheap by inclining her face toward him, but he merely dropped an acorn button into her hand; so she slowly returned her face to where it had been before, and she said nicely that she would wear his kiss on the chain round her neck. It was lucky that she did put it on that chain, for it was afterwards to save her life. *** "And I know you meant to be kind," she said, relenting; "so you may give me a kiss." For the moment she had forgotten his ignorance about kisses. "I thought you would want it back," he said a little bitterly, and offered to return her the thimble. "Oh dear," said the nice Wendy, "I don't mean a kiss, I mean a thimble." "What's that?" "It's like this." She kissed him. "Funny!" said Peter gravely. "Now shall I give you a thimble?" "If you wish to," said Wendy, keeping her head erect this time. === Finally, Harry Potter Filks webmaster Caius Marcius updated his wonderful site last night, and included my 4 new filks, plus an old one, under my HPFilks pseudo, GiNnY. :) Sunday, April 11, 2004 ------------------------------------------------ Singing Schminging.... On to the next book. "Prey" by Michael Crichton. I've had the book for a while now, and I guess it's about time I started it. :) === "I'm going away," he said. "And I want you to know that I'm coming back. I love you because...." "Don't say anything," Fatima interrupted. "One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving." But the boy continued, "I had a dream, and I met with a king. I sold crystal and crossed the desert. And, because the tribes declared war, I went to the well, seeking the alchemist. So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you." The One About More Light Shows and Happy Thoughts The last night of the International Pyro Olympics Exhibitions ended with a very very loud bang. Having watched more than half of the exhibitions, I'm very proud to say that I think the Philippine Exhibition rocked. As if on cue, Harry decided he would not take pictures that night. I guess the event is a go. :) Meanwhile, rendezvous in Jerusalem went really really well. "The Passion" was a great movie (see separate review later on) which had me feeling kinda... heavyhearted... afterwards. The whole experience is actually only just sinking in. A little "exchange" with old Tom the Innkeeper of TLC, who's supposed to actually be Jim Tavare (actor who plays Tom in the movie) promoting a charity he's involved in. Either Jim Tavare is too into his role (especially since it's April Fools') or one of the editors has taken on another personality. Heheheh. But it's good fun, nonetheless, and effective promotion. :) === Hrmmm... My filking streak seems to have unexpectedly been terminated today. I guess that's okay. After all, unleashing four crazy Harry Potter Filks in a row to the rest of the Wizarding and Muggle worlds ain't a joke. And if I'm not careful, I might get carted off to Azkaban. :D Now off to Harry Potter UNO training and a rendezvous in Jerusalem. :) Friday, April 02, 2004 ------------------------------------------------ The One With Yet Another Filk, Chapter 14, and Foolish Schmoolish Thoughts LORD VOLDEMORT WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD A parody of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears for Fears Spoiler Alerts for all the Harry Potter books. Here, Luminara instructs Barriss on how to construct a lightsaber ("The crystal is the heart of the blade... The Jedi is the blade of the Force..."). They are rudely interrupted by mine-laying droids who want to blow up the caves. Luminara and Barriss hold their own against the droids, but they end up under all the rubble. Master Yoda senses danger and plans to come to their rescue. Cool. One weird thing about this episode: so there really are purple crystals to make purple lightsabers... then why was Mace the only one with the purple saber? I'm sure one of the female Jedi would have found the purple crystals quite lovely and would want to use them for constructing their own sabers. Hrmmm... Ah, well. Great Chapter nonetheless. :) === Found another interesting quiz in Karen's blog (K: I want to trackback but you don't have a permalink yet. :D): Who's your celebrity soulmate? My result? Your celebrity soul mate is someone who's Indie. You're probably not one to take the path most traveled. In fact, an independent spirit like you would much rather carve out your own special niche. So it's only natural that your romantic match would be required to do the same. Someone who's unique, intelligent, maybe a bit serious and brooding is right for the part. An indie actor like Johnny Depp seems best suited for that role. And it only makes sense that you'd rather have your rendezvous at places that are under the radar — just like you! So, keep making your own waves in the world. And even if you don't live in the same reality as your celebrity soul mate, you can still meet someone who's indie close to home. So get moving!
